On the day itself, (or for anything you don’t want us to know about before the day ;) ), contact our friends Hayley Rose (+31638388128) and Valerie Meza (+31625127435)
There will be professional photography and videography at the event.
The venue is, as the name would suggest, on the 11th and top floor of a high-rise building in Amsterdam. It is right next to central station, near the Ibis hotel. We loved it when we saw it, because it is in the heart of Amsterdam and has a spectacular 360 degree panorama view of the surrounding area. We were enamoured of the idea of celebrating with you while watching the sun set over this beautiful city.
The venue is a purely indoor space.
Unfortunately smoking is not permitted at the venue nor do they have a smoking room. Smoking would need to happen outside the building.
There will be a supervised cloakroom for your jackets and spare shoes.

Come hungry! We are working with Syrian refugees and Lebanese entrepreneurs to bring you delicious foods from the Middle East region. The food will be set up in buffet style and will be informal. There will be a mix of standing and seated tables and you are welcome to sit where you please – although we do encourage you to mingle and enjoy!
There will be an open bar of soft drinks, beer and wine and a small selection of cocktails, available throughout the night. (Damn right!)
How can I get to the venue?
By public transport: The venue is easily accessible by public transport as it is not even a two minute walk from Amsterdam Central Station. You will know when you are there because it is the long tower that is right next door to the Ibis hotel. Just make sure to exit the station from the front side. That’s the side that is NOT on the water. You’ll know you are going in the right direction if you see the platform numbers getting smaller.
Public transport within Amsterdam runs until about 1:30 am. To check timings, you can download the 9292 app.
By taxi: The address is Stationsplein 51 - 53, 1012 AB Amsterdam. It’s probably best to tell your driver to just take you to the Ibis by Central Station.
Taxi options are: Uber, Viavan (which is a carpooling service - its cheap but it might mean you share the ride with strangers) and TCA, who you can call on +31207777777.
By car: You can park your car here in Parkeergarage P1 opposite the Central Station (a 1 minute walk). You can buy a ticket online on this website https://www.p1.nl/parkeren/amsterdam/p1-parking-amsterdam-centraal. For a full day, the parking ticket is €20.
Another option is to park at one of the P+R- areas, just outside the city centre. The parking area is supervised, and you are provided with free tickets for public transport. The travel time by public transport from these parking spaces to Level Eleven is about 15 minutes. This option costs € 8 per day.
When you arrive at the building, please take the elevator to – you guessed it- the 11th floor.
What time should I arrive?
We would be grateful if you arrive no later than 17:15 so that there is time to be seated and we can start the ceremony at 17:30 sharp.
Can I bring my young children?
Young children are more than welcome! The only thing we ask you to bear in mind is that the dancing and drinking begins at 20:30, so you might find that to become a less child-friendly part of the event.
What would you guys like as a gift?
We feel so lucky that we have all that we need. The thing we cherish the most in this world is memories! So if you would like to give us a gift, we would love a contribution to our honeymoon : )
What should I wear?
Let’s get glamorous. There are so few occasions where we can get all dressed up, so our request is that you wear your fanciest outfit – whatever makes you feel beautiful and glamorous. For ladies, that can be for example a ball gown, or a cocktail dress, for gentlemen – a suit (no need for a tux, unless you really feel like it!).
What’s the weather in Amsterdam like in October?
It’s difficult to say. We have had cold Octobers, we have had warm, sunny Octobers. On average the weather is 14 (max) to 7 degrees (min) Celsius according to these guys.
Where can I leave my jacket and spare shoes?
There will be a supervised cloakroom for your jackets and spare shoes. When you arrive you can leave them in there and you will get a numbered ticket.
Any tips for looking for hotels?
The venue is about as central you can get in Amsterdam so any hotel near the center should be fine. But don’t be afraid of staying further away from the centre – Amsterdam is not very big so you will never be too far from the venue.
Yay! You’re getting married.
Ok that wasn’t a question. But yes, yes we are! One thing you should know though, for full transparency: the ceremony on the day will not be an official ceremony. It will be a symbolic ceremony. This is because we will very un-ceremoniously sign the official papers the Monday prior at the municipality. You see, the Monday prior is September 30th, which will also be our two-year anniversary. And we are nothing if not practical – we love the idea of keeping that same date as the anniversary date.
Can I post pictures on social media?
We kindly ask that you do not post pictures of the wedding on social media. After the wedding we will have a private online method whereby the photos can be compiled and shared among the guests – and of course we will share the official photos and video of the event when they are ready!
So will you change your names to Lubna Schrijver? Ben Shaban?
I guess it depends how much use we make of that open bar.
If there’s anything else please send us an email, a whatsapp, call us, show up on our doorstep, send a carrier pigeon, go to the neighbour’s house across the street and use their lights to send us morse code signals - whatever it takes!
